{Case} Study:
Performance Benchmark

- THE CLIENT BIO
The National Performance Benchmark Project began in 2015 with the first national survey of the financial performance and strategic responses of Disability Service Providers across Australia. The project is now undertaken by the University of Western Australia (UWA) in partnership with National Disability Services (NDS).
- THE SITUATION
In Dec 2017, the National Performance Benchmark Project team approached me to create their new website for the disability services community.
- THE GOAL
Performance Benchmark required a WordPress membership site to be constructed where members could sign up securely and submit their financial analytics for research and development purposes under the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
- THE CHALLENGE
The challenge would be protecting over 130 clients highly sensitive data. We weren’t able to use any third party services without strict legal agreements.
- THE PROBLEMS
The problems I faced with this project were related to privacy of the data that was being distributed to Performance Benchmarks clients. There were many challenges that restricted using the usual solutions that WordPress offers.
- THE SOLUTION
The solution was to build a whole WordPress Website from scratch using the Total theme that the client was familiar with using. This was the same theme used on the Baxter Lawley Website. To get around the restricted data challenges Performance Benchmark opted to use a Microsoft Program called Power BI. This allowed for interactive visualizations with self-service business intelligence capabilities, where Performance Benchmark could create reports and dashboards by themselves, without having to depend on IT staff or a database administrators.
